Definition of Image Interpretation

Bookmark and Share
Image interpretation is a way of interpreting the existing objects in the image. The elements of image interpretation is as follows:
1. Hue and color. Rona is the lightness and darkness of an object. The color is a form visible to the eye by using a narrow spectrum.
a. objects in the form of water darkened hue
b. steep slopes, dark hue
c. dark colors, dark hue.

2. Form: an object framework. For example, round, triangle, square, star-shaped building, U, T, I.
3. Size: object attributes, such as length, area, width, volume, height, slope. For example, a football field size of 80 mx 100 m, slope 45%.
4. Texture: a smoothness and roughness of the object. For example, the fine texture of grass, maize texture medium coarse texture banyan tree.
5. Pattern: spatial composition of an object. For example elongated, circular, centering, spread, plots.
6. Shadow: hide an object as light. Eg chimneys, towers slope, the stadium.
7. Site: the location of an object to other objects. For example, the site is located in the coffee gardens sloping because coffee plants require good water management, settlement patterns elongated generally close to the river, street or beach.
8. Association: object relation to one another. For example, a football field with goal, the railway station, a flagpole with the office or school.

Various utilization of remote sensing are as follows:
1. in the field of marine
a. observations of physical properties of sea water
b. tides
c. ocean currents and ocean wave
d. coastal mapping and change
e. erosion and sedimentation

2. hydrological
a. watershed monitoring
b. monitoring flood regions
c. observations of river flow patterns
d. observation of sedimentation and erosion

3. in the field of climatology
a. weather and climate observations
b. climate and weather mapping
c. changes in weather and climate

4. in the field of natural resources and the environment
a. land use
b. observation of degraded land
c. observation of critical land
d. mapping of natural resources
e. mapping of defense and security
f. development planning

5. in the field of space
a. research on the planet
b. observation of celestial bodies.
