Ancient Mataram Kingdom

Mataram kingdom in Central Java is the core area called Bhumi Mataram. Mataram kingdom ruled by hereditary kings of Sanjaya dynasty. King Sanjaya embraced Hindu Shiva worshipers. However successor namely Rakai Sanjaya Panangkaran then turned to Buddhism. Rakai Panangkaran many fine buildings sacred to Buddhism, such as Borobudur, Kalasan, Ratu Boko, and Plaosan.

Panangkaran succeeded by his son named Samaratungga. Furthermore, Samaratungga replaced by a married Pramodawardhani Rakai lure Hindus. Dyah Wawa Sumba Rakai rule abruptly ended unexpectedly due to an eruption of Mount Merapi are very terrible. As a result, the people of Mataram including the king and lord of Mataram evacuate to East Java.

Ancient Mataram rule in East Java is further guided by Sindok Pu (929-948 m). Pu Sindok developing new capital, that the government still Tamwlang called Mataram. In a further development, the Government of Mataram was divided into two, namely Polaris and Panjalu (Kediri). However, the Government can not grow Jenggala while the Government Panjalu (Kediri) collapsed in 1222.
